Bonhoeffer bracht in het nazitijdperk in praktijk wat hij beleed en betaalde daarvoor met zijn leven. Maar hij leeft voort in zijn geschriften. Bonhoeffer wordt wel beschouwd als de grootste theoloog uit de twintigste eeuw.
